Rondane trail: Pellestova - Rondvassbu

The Rondanestien (Rondane trail) runs between Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen at an average height of about 1000m over panoramic hilltops, through marshy holows and mountain birch woods as well as past remote alpine pastures and small lakes in the Rondane National Park. All around you can hear the bells of the free roaming sheep. Occasionally streams make it necessary to wade through water while, in between times, there are DNT huts with food offering an overnight stay and you can also pitch a tent almost everywhere.

Grade:
Surefootedness, fitness; the stages between the huts are long. The Rondanestien often crosses or touches alpine pastures and pass roads so that it's possible at any time, to descend into the Gudbrandsdalen in bad weather; some huts are also accessible along mountain roads.
