Col Raiser to Santa Cristina round tour
Nice family hike. Mainly downhill.
Take Col Raiser lift from Santa Cristana. Great views towards Sassolungo / Seiser Alm. After a more or less flat hike make an ascent to Mount Pic. 360° panorama view.
Then a long descent to Santa Cristina but don't forget to make a stop at the nicely located Seurasas hut for a drink or some food.
This is a great full day hike for families. We did this hike with 3 kids age 7, 4 and 2. They youngest one got carried most of the hike. Both other kids did this on their own.
The ascent is done by means of the Col Raiser lift starting from Santa Cristina. The hike offers great views towards the Sassolungo group and the Sella group and brings you close to the peaks of the Geisler group.
It is technically easy. Steady foot are required for the long descent as it can be a bit slippery on some short gravel sections. The ascent and descent of the Mount Pic is a bit more steap but anybody in good phyiscal shape can do this.
A --> B. Take the lift from Santa Cristina to the Col Raiser. This is the starting point for lots of hikes in the Geisler group, so expect to be in a little bit busy place.
B --> C/D: Follow the signs to Fermeda Hut (Utia de Fermeda (D). This is walking track 4A and 2. Track numbers can be a bit confusing here so it is easier to follow Fermeda Hut. This is a simple / flat track.
D --> E. Continue your walk towards the Cuca saddle along track 2. But don't go to the saddle itself which would bring you to the other side of the Geissler group.
E --> F. Go straight and hike towards Mount Pic. The path becomes more narrow and steeper but is clearly visible so you cannot miss to find the top of this nice mountain. It is a nice spot to have lunch (but you need to bring it yourself).
F --> G. You can't miss the path for the descent as there are only 2 paths arriving at the top. Take the one you did not use to ascent to the top. It is the steepest part of the complete descent but after 20 minutes you will arrive on more gentle slopes. It can be a bit unclear which path to take exactly once you arrive on the gentle slopes (after some scrub forrest). Head to the left in any case until you reach a larger track.
G --> H. Follow this track (path no. 20) to the left and after a few minutes you will reach the nicely located Seurasas hut. This place has a nice playground for kids as well so it is an excellent location for a little break and some refreshments.
H --> L. As of this point, the road continues downhill. Most of it goes through forest. Once you reach asphalt roads, you also have some shortcuts that allow you to cut off a bend or 2 and keep yourself safe from cars and traffic.
L --> O. When you reach the Plesdinaz Strabe, continue downhill to your left and walk down to the little river. Cross the river and at the intersection turn left again to the base station of Col Raiser.
