The Active City Innovation projectActive City Innovation (ACI) is part of the Sports Innovation Network International (SINN-i) – a front-running network stimulating and creating innovations in the field of Healthstyle (physical activity, sports & health) with the core focus of bringing more joy of movement into the world. The objective of the project is to identify, compile and learn from good practice examples in urban areas around the world. In cooperation with the various international project partners we developed a number of innovative concepts and explored applied technologies to investigate how to turn cities into active cities, hence they become health and wellbeing spaces. This website will present some of the most promissing and value-adding ideas and concepts that we developed and evaluated in the ACI project. The power of digital content to get people movingInformation and inspiring content about the various options for outdoor activities in urban areas are key to bring residents into phyiscal activities. In cooperation with the Munich University of Applied Sciences we designed a student course format to showcase how a digital data infrastructure in combination with web and mobile technologies can facilitate the activiation of urban residents for more phyisical activities. The students generated attractive and high quality digital content in the urban area of Munich based on a series of different topics such as Skate-City Munich, Green Mobility & Movement or Crime Scene Munich. The generated digital content revolves around interesting stories and topics in combination with biking or walking routes or the presentation and information provision of urban sports infrastructures. This approach may be transferable to other urban contexts, for example in Tokyo where routes and stories could revolve around Japanese culinary, the cultural heritage of the Olympic Games, or sports infrasturtcure for BMX, scateboarding, and basketball.nullnullGetting motivated by "Challenges"Challenges can be a fun way to motivate people for being active and push them to their limits. Challenges can help to establish a routine for phyiscal activities with the goal that people get inspired and triggered to take over this routine in their everyday life. As part of the SINNI-i project we investigated how challenges can be supported by technology and integrated in the Outdooractive platform. The Outdooractive "Challenges" feature allows members to participate in global competitions for activities such as biking, hiking or running, to collect kilometers and track the progress and to earn badges for their acchievements. As a showcase we have created the JOMPees Movement - 2022 Challenge (you will find more information about this in the "From SINN-i to JOMP section below). The challenge is to collect in total at least 500 km of hiking, biking, running or whatever (as long as we stay active). The more participate the quicker we will win our badges!nullnullBuilding a community to spread out inspirationMost physical activites are done in company which suggests that the social dimension is paramount to get people moving. The SINN-i project helped to conceptualize and develop the Outdooractive "Group" feature where members can socially interact. In this way, people get inspired by others, they can share all the relevant information about their activities they need and motivate each other to be active. We created the "Joy of Movement Innovation Community" where members around the globe can share their activities and innovative ideas and initiatives. This sounds like the kickoff of a JOMPees community movement! To be part of the community simply click the green "Joy of Movement Innovation Community" button. From SINN-i to JOMPTo continue the successful work of the SINN-i project we initated the Joy of Movement Pioneers (JOMP) movement. The idea behind JOMP is to provide leadership and support to generate innovations that will foster Joy of Movement across all settings and target groups using network connections and competences. JOMP will offer its competencies, experiences, leadership, and international network with the aim to build healthy and happy lives. Our target groups are manifold and include associations, companies, societal, educational and governmental institutions, municipalities, and tourism destinations. To learn more about JOMP please visit our new JOMP-WebseiteCombining projects: Digital Active Communities & Go,WannaGo!The Go,WannaGo! project is also part of the SINN-i initiative and aims to use physical-sport activities, such as trim-trails or marathons, and combine them with mixed-reality approaches and multi-user applications to create new multimodal scenarios in collaborative & competitive social outdoor interactions. For this purpose, applications were developed and evaluated, enriching geo-zones (such as LoRaWAN2, Bluetooth beacons) and real-world areas (urban settings and near-urban natural spaces) with virtual tasks (physical, cognitive, social-cooperative). The technical infrastructure consists of an AR glasses, a smartwatch and a smartphone allowing multimodal input and output options. To examplify how this concept can be applied on a global scale we set up a live demo session among Go,WannaGo!ers across the world who compete against each other in a technology supported running event. The session connects digital active communities in Germany (Siegen, Fürth, and Munich), Spain (Valencia), and Japan (Tokyo). To show our support to JOMP the tracks are designed within the urban maps in the JOMP letters.nullnullJOMP meets Tokyo (Japan)nullJOMP meets Fürth (Bavaria, Germany)nullJOMP meets Siegen (Germany)nullJOMP meets Valencia (Spain)nullJOMP meets Munich (Bavaria, Germany)nullProject partnersTechnische Universität München, Munich Innovationsmanufaktur GmbH, Munich Outdooractive, Immenstadt Universität Siegen, Siegen Hochschule München, Munich ISPO, Munich Dr. Karl Wetekam & Co.
