Ride delightful tracks along the River Spean followed by a short road section from Roy Bridge, after this you will find yourself on a great track followed  by the spectacular views over Loch Laggan and The Grey Corries.  

Your Scottish Coast to Coast starts with a truly world class day of biking. Cycle along single track paths as you make your way to the Nevis Range.

After a few tough days, day five is a slightly more relaxed day riding mainly on Landrover tracks as you skirt the northern edge of the Cairngorms.

We get excited even thinking about today’s riding, almost 100% off road, truly remote and with an awesome mix of epic climbs, technical singletrack and truly breathtaking views. 

A final whoop along quiet country roads brings us to the sea at Montrose and the end of an unforgettable mountain bike journey through the Scottish Highlands. 

Der Great Glen Way ist ein Trekking- oder Radwanderweg durch die schottischen Highlands. Er verläuft parallel zum Kaledonischen Kanal zwischen Fort William und Inverness, entlang der Seen Loch Linnhe, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich und Loch Ness. Den grössten See, Loch Ness, bekommt man jedoch nur teilweise zu sehen, da der Wanderweg streckenweise auf der anderen Seite eines Bergkammes verläuft. Der Great Glen Way kann in beiden Richtungen bewandert werden, allerdings empfiehlt es sich in Fort William zu starten und den Weg in Richtung Nord-Osten zu gehen, da man somit Wind und Sonne meist im Rücken hat. Ausserdem beginnt man so mit dem einfachsten Abschnitt und kann sich an die steigenden Herausforderungen gewöhnen. Die Strecke kann mit Trekking-Gepäck bequem in etwa 5 bis 7 Tagen gelaufen werden. Mit sehr leichtem Gepäck, wie etwa bei Nutzung eines der ansässigen Gepäck-Transportunternehmen, kann man den Weg bei guter Ausdauer auch in 3 bis 4 Tagen bewältigen. Mit dem Rad (MTB) kann die Strecke in 3 Tagen bewältigt werden. In diesem Bericht wird die Variante mit dem Rad beschrieben.

Day six is the highpoint of your week's riding in every sense of the word. The first few miles of gentle riverside riding don’t even begin to hint at what is to come but once you start climbing Glen Tanar and then the Mounth Road you will need every last bit of energy to get you to the top of Mount Keen, Scotland’s most easterly Munro.

Today provides a different take on the Great Glen as you climb sharply out of Drumnadrochit and away from the lochs that you have so faithfully followed. Follow mostly minor country roads through beautiful scenery as you ride deeper into the hills and fields that surround the Great Glen. 

The first section of the trail is relatively easy-going and follows a traffic-free towpath along the Caledonian Canal. Get a close-up view of Neptune’s Staircase, the longest series of canal locks in the UK, perhaps pausing to watch boats navigate this engineering wonder.
