7 challenging stages from one mountain hut to the next, from the shores of the lake to 2000 m and above, touching on all of the peaks surrounding the northern shores of Lake Garda.

Die Via Vigilius folgt den Spuren des Bischofs Vigilius von Trient, der um 355 geboren und vermutlich um 405 im Trentiner Rendenatal zu Tode kam. Vigilius wirkte vor allem im oberen Etschtal als Missionar und bereiste die die weitere Umgebung von Trento bis hin zum südlichen Gardasee. Viele neue Pfarreien entstanden durch sein Zutun, zudem wurden viele sakrale Bauten auf seine Initiative hin errichtet. Zahlreiche Kirchen und Bergkapellen, wie auch das Kirchlein am Vigiljoch, tragen heute noch seinen Namen. Als er im Rendenatal eine Saturn-Statue zerstörte, wurde er von aufgebrachten Bewohnern mit Knüppeln und Holzschuhen erschlagen. Beigesetzt wurde Vigilius in der von ihm erbauten Kathedrale in Trento, wo sich immer noch ein kunstvolles Reliquiar befindet. St. Vigilius ist einer der Patrone Südtirols und des Trentino, sowie Patron der Bergwerke. Sein Name kommt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet der Wachsame. Entlang der Via Vigilius trifft man immer wieder auf die Spuren des Bischofs. Man wandert am Vigiljocher Kirchlein vorbei, kehrt im Wallfahrtsort Unsere liebe Frau im Walde ein, geht am Kloster San Romedio vorbei und steigt am Ende der Tour über die Via Vili ab, die in etwa dem Weg folgt, den Bischof Vigilius von Trient in das Val Rendena genommen hat, wo er dann zu Tode gesteinigt wurde.

Another uphill stage! From the bottom of the valley there is almost 2000 metres of elevation gain to get to one of the most spectacular viewing points in all of Garda Trentino.

From San Pietro hut (1000 m above sea level) to the valley bottom again. Another stage characterized by a great variety of lanscapes as you descend to the Sarca river shores. 

A breathtaking finale for the Top Loop of GardaTrek: take the cable car down to Monte Baldo and return by ferry to get back to where you started from. 

This stage goes from a hut to the next, from Nino Pernici to San Pietro, touching the verdant shores of lake Tenno and the evocative medieval village of Canale di Tenno.
